Like varicose and spider veins, reticular veins can be caused by many factors, including heredity and age. Women have a greater change to develop varicose and reticular veins than men, due to hormonal changes. Reticular veins can also be affected by obesity and prolonged standing or sitting.
WHAT ARE RETICULAR VEINS?
Reticular veins (also called feeder veins) appear blue or green beneath the surface of the skin. When there is increased pressure, reticular veins can enlarge and become unsightly. While considered a cosmetic problem the majority of the time, these medium sized veins can sometimes lead to the creation of spider veins.
Causes
Treatments
Depending on their size and severity, reticular veins can be treated by sclerotherapy or radiofrequency ablation.
